Experts recommend using such creams at night before sleeping as the skin is more permeable and thus will be give better results. While purchasing these products it is important to have certain information regarding them and to know the useful ingredients used. Aminophylline: It is the derivative of the active component of theophyllinem which is generally used to promote relaxation in certain muscles. It is believed by a few researchers that the component aminophylline can be used to dissolve the fat cells in the body.  But it has been proved that as the component does not enter the bloodstream it is unable to break the fat cells. Also if the cream contains this component, it should be used quickly and kept away from heat.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs): Lower concentrations of AHAs can act as exfoliators and thus accelerate the removal of the surface layer comprising of the dead cells. They also increase the reverse cell reactions and importantly thinning the outer layer of the skin. They are commonly found in the citrus plants and fruits like apples, grapes sour milk etc. But there are yet no researches done on them to prove that AHAs can be used as a treatment against the cellulites.

Caffiene: It is one of the ingredients found in the various cellulite creams, but there are no factsheets showing its individual effect on the skin as a treatment against cellulites.

Retinoids: Retinoids are vitamin A derivatives which are often used for the treatment against wrinkles. In limited concentrations, retinoids can be used to decrease the wrinkles, roughness of the skin by improving the circulation in the skin and the thickness of the epidermis layer.
